Fortune Cookie Package

10 Nov

hi cuties!!

first I want to start this post by saying thank you SO much to everyone who has been so accepting of me in the blogging community! Seriously, I appreciate the comments/advice/support more than you may realize. It’s great and has made this sometimes difficult road sooo much easier/less stressful. :]

the rest of my weekend was pretty relaxing/uneventful & spent studying/chillin w/ friends/spendin’ quality time w/ the boy/enjoyin the unexpected beautiful weather!

Saturday it was super nice out so me n gar decided to go for a run outside. This was a big deal because I pretty much avoid running outdoors at all costs :-[. I know it’s bad…. but I’m such a sucker for the treadmill because I can flip through a magazine, listen to music, watch tv, etc. etc.

But this run was hands down the best run of my life. It was so freeing. I didn’t even think about stopping, I just thought about how beautiful everything was that surrounded me. Not to be super cheeseball, but I honestly almost got a little choked up because I felt so lucky to be running outside with the most amazing boy and just to feel so alive.

EATS πŸ™‚

at some point on Saturday this bar was eaten

DSC00662it was dark chocolate almond nugo bar and to be honest, I didn’t really like it. like a 5/10. It just wasn’t that good? but the nutritionals weren’t too shabby at all.

Saturday night dinner SUCKKKED. not even going to lie. for some reason whenever I eat my cafeteria’s plain grilled chicken breasts, I feel sick :-\ idk why. Nonetheless, I shot some pix!

DSC00664my eats Sunday were soo standard & because I realized how boring I was, I didn’t even photograph them. But can you blame me- I am in college after all!! –> options = limited.

dinner was delicious though! after a sorority thannng i met my boyfriend at one of my fav quick restaurants.. COSI!

I got the Shanghai chicken salad, an apple, & whole wheat bread– soooo good

DSC00666

cosi was always a safe option when i was super restrictive but I would always order the lowest calorie salad (188) with a side soup that had like 100 calories and eat some carrots with it. I was proud of myself because this time I ate the whole piece of bread. I NEVER eat all the bread…ever. seriously.

on the way back, I stopped at Starbucks because my g-ma sent me a 25 $ gift card randomly!

DSC00667got my fav– grande americano with a shot of sugar free hazelnut! yummmm. LOVVEE the holiday cups so much!

do you have a starbucks drink you always order? If so, what is it?

Monday has been a pretty typical monday. Started out with a yogurt mess that went unpictured because I was super rushed to eat it 😦 I met with my TA & she went over my paper and said it was good. I was relieved! I also drank my ensure around 11

Lunch was delicious… & still photographed despite it’s repetitiveness.

DSC00670

for a snack I had the key lime pie lara bar!

DSC00675it was pretty good, but i’d give it like a 7/10 because I really LOVE my key lime pie and i was slightly disappointed at the lack of limeness in this bar.

dinner tonight was a really delicious salad from the cafeteria! it was contained spring mix, diced tomatoes, onions, carrots, red onions, mushrooms, hard boiled egg, feta cheese, chicken, & lite olive oil vinagrette dressing.. πŸ™‚

DSC00676tonight has been spent studying & drinking an ensure.

something excited happen. Now for all you bloggers in college, you know how exciting it is to get a package. I saw I had a package slip so I was super excited… I saw it was from my cousin who just got engaged. I opened it up & inside was a fortune cookie.

I naturally cracked open the cookie & read the fortune & it said…

fortune cookie

“I am so fortunate to have you in my life. will you be my bride’s maid? Love, Carly”

I was so excited! i’ve never been a bride’s maid before πŸ™‚

not to mention- it was SUCH a cute way to ask.

on another note- with the weight gain, i have seen an increase of about 1.5 pounds. while this makes me happy, there is still part of me that is resilient to gain. I don’t understand why! It makes me so mad. I know i need to gain weight, but yet I still have this weird mentality about it :-\

well i’m off to bed.. i need to catch up on some zzz’s. hope you have a great Tuesday!

xoxoxo,

Shelleyβ™₯

tsss… fortune cookies are so much fun πŸ˜€
don’t be afraid of the weight gain hun, i know its so scary to let go of old patterns and ways of thinking but remember that your heath is far more important that what your head is trying to tell you right now
    i’m here for you
    xoxo

awww! that’s so cute how she asked you to be a bridesmaid! i’ve never been one before either. hope its a lot of fun!! love your eats, esp. the salad, it looks like the one i made at whole foods last week! have a great day love.

  3. Gabriela November 10, 2009 at 7:14 am #

Cosi is so yummy! I think I go there every week πŸ™‚ Good job with the weight gain, I know it’s scary but just think how much closer that brings you to your goal of HEALTH πŸ™‚ Have a great day girly!

  4. Allison November 10, 2009 at 8:49 am #

Aww that’s the cutest idea using the fortune cookie! How exciting you get to be in the wedding πŸ™‚ I’m a Sbucks-aholic and depending on my mood… sleepy=Americano.. I’ll get whatever sounds good that day. But I’m a huge holiday latte fan so I’ve been getting Pumpkin Spices with skim for the past 2 months and just now made the switch over to my fav Christmas flavor, Gingerbread πŸ™‚ mmmm SO goood! Don’t be nervous about the weight gain.. just keep repeating that you’re not gaining weight, you’re gaining health! πŸ™‚ maybe it will help. And I know what you mean about the feeling you get running outside.. it’s so different from a run cooped up on the treadmill and especially on nice, warm days it can turn into such an awesome run

lovee the fortune cookie! that’s so creative, you are going to love being a bridesmaid!!
so at starbucks i have recently been obsessed with mistos with one pump of sugar free cinnamon dolce. (eek i even get it with 2%)
oh it has been soo long since i’ve run, this weekend was perfect for it πŸ™‚
and i totally here you on the college=limited options thing, it’s a major bummer. but you are doing a great job sneaking in variety when you can, try to embrace the gain its what you body needs and it is proof that you are growing…i know that seems cheezy but it’s true. health all the way baby!

  6. blueeyedheart November 10, 2009 at 9:49 am #

What a cute idea!! Love the fortune cookie πŸ™‚

It’s amazing that you ate the whole piece of bread; things are usually the scariest the first time around, but they do get easier.

I’m the same way with weight gain… it’s like I’m kicking and screaming all the way, even if I know I need to do it, and it’s silly because I’m ultimately just fighting myself. Grr.

OMG, the fortune cookie is adorable! I smiled ear to ear when I read that. Major congrats to your cousin!!

I’m so glad you were able to actually ENJOY a run. I try to observe the beauty that is around me when I run, but sometimes ED takes over– yikes!

I’m very anti Starbucks, bc they don’t have fair trade coffee. BUTTTT I get their shaken iced teas every once and while.

    Have a lovely afternoon, dear!

  16. homecookedem November 10, 2009 at 5:32 pm #

What an adorable way to ask you to be a bridesmaid!! I didn’t do anything near as creative, but I do remember calling them all on Valentine’s Day and saying something cheesy along the lines of “Will you be mine? errr, bridesmaid??” haha! πŸ™‚

  17. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) November 10, 2009 at 5:55 pm #

I love those types of runs! I live for those runs. There’s nothing like beautiful weather while running–puts a smile on my face every time.

What an adorable way to ask you to be a bridesmaid!
And great job with eating all the bread. It’s the small steps like this one that are so important.
    Take care!
    Sarah

  21. kasondra November 10, 2009 at 8:56 pm #

I love fortune cookies!! I always have trouble picking which one i am drawn to!

  22. nattietan November 10, 2009 at 9:37 pm #

Aww you’re going to be an awesome bridesmaid!! And about the weight gain, it’s scary at first but don’t think about the numbers (although it’s crazy tough not to initially), think about how healthy you are and how much MORE beautiful you are going to be.

And remember I’m always a mouse-click away if you need me!! x)

    xx

  23. solclare November 10, 2009 at 9:59 pm #

Yes to starbucks’ red cuppa! Well mine’s got to be soy latte or soy cappuccino :D.

The cookie is really cute! Btw, I’ll be linking you up babe!

    Good day, xoxo.

  24. Mitri November 10, 2009 at 10:47 pm #

I like soy caffe mistos at Starbucks πŸ™‚ creamy but not too sweet!

Love your eats, especially for a college campus! And it’s great to hear you have gained some HEALTH! Stay strong so you can enjoy things like being a wonderful bridesmaid! πŸ˜€

  25. candice November 11, 2009 at 1:07 am #

Mmm, I know exactly what that feeling is like when running. But that’s the weird thing about me and running… if I do it too much, that feeling is replaced with dread. :/ Congrats on eating the bread!!! I’m sure you’ll grow to love it. πŸ˜‰ Nothing like sinking your teeth into a perfect, freshly toasted slice of bread. Mmmm~

Don’t be worried about the weight gain; it’ll take some time to get used to, but once you’re into it, it’ll only get easier. Just tell yourself that gaining weight is the only way to health, and when you’re healthy, you’re gonna be happy. πŸ™‚

  26. mayapamela November 11, 2009 at 1:54 am #

That’s so exciting that you’re going to be a bridesmaid! I think that’s the first fortune cookie fortune I’ve read that isn’t made funnier by adding “in bed” to it!

  27. Naomi (onefitfoodie) November 11, 2009 at 6:21 am #

what a long way you have come, girl! to eating the smallest thing on the menu to eating the whole piece of bread at cosi (which is amazing by the way!)

starbux I always just get a reg coffee, or sometimes a cappucino, but thats rare!

congrats on being a bridemaid!! yayayayay!! πŸ™‚
    xo

  28. Ada November 11, 2009 at 6:38 am #

Yummm I love Cosi salads, SO good;) I have to say, though, I am NOT a fan of Starbucks, and very rarely go there. I find their coffee to be rather oily for some reason.

  29. Laura November 11, 2009 at 8:07 am #

A bridesmaid?! That was like a proposal =P
I think you’re the only person I know who likes americano’s. I just can’t handle them!

I have the same mentality.. where I know I need to gain weight.. just a great part of me is so so hesitant.. urg.

I am very happy that You are apart of this blogging community! you are so fabulous, love ❀

Your dinner from Cosi looks great!! You should be mucho proud of yourself, girl!

My starbucks drink has changed a few times over the years.. First, it was a grande soy african redbush tea misto.
then it was a SF cinnamon dolce americano
now, its a venti peppermint tea πŸ˜€

Hi Shelley!! I hope your day is going well Doll πŸ™‚

mmmmm starbucks – that’s funny my drink used to be a Grande Americano with sugar free vanilla πŸ˜‰ But now I drink the Americano straight up / as is. That’s just how I roll πŸ˜‰

I heart the red cups too! I am so sad when the day comes and they are gone. I make it a ritual to go there on the day they bring them out.

Too bad that bar wasn’t that tasty, it looked really good!

    Have a great day!

ps. thanks for the comment – I think Hudson is pretty darn cute too πŸ˜‰
