some good eats & 3 things

17 Dec

2 More Days…

until I go home! I can’t believe it. I’m excited, but i’m really going to miss school.

Today has been incredibly uneventful thus far, so hopefully you don’t fall asleep reading this post. Started with showering and then very slowly getting ready while watching Tabatha’s Salon Takover. Does anyone else find that show incredibly amusing or is it just me? πŸ™‚

Yesterday, I had breakfast before meeting with my nutritionist!

It was a bowl of oats with 2 instant plain packets, dark chocolate dreams, raisins, and a banana.

Look at all that chocolate-peanutbuttery goodness πŸ˜‰

After eating breakfast, I headed back home to get in some more zzzs. The appointment was at 8:30- that is way too early for muah πŸ™‚

After waking up, gettin ready, and catchin up on blogs I had lunch with Gardner. I got a grilled turkey/swiss wrap on a spinach tortilla with some pretzels & an apple along side.

Then I went over to study with Gar & his guy friends at the student activity center, the place with this incredible view. We were sitting in this room that they opened for finals week that was pretty sweet. I think it is intended for conferences and each seat had like its own microphone and stuff.

When snack time came around, I had a trail mix I bought from Walgreens! Gotta get in my fats πŸ™‚ It had pecans, almonds, yogurt clusters, and dried cranberries..yummm!

I had a review session at 7, and then was hungry for some dinner! I got this thing called a ‘rice bowl’ from my cafteria. It had brown rice, mozzarella cheese, chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, & avocado. THey put WAY too much rice though, I was really annoyed! Nonetheless, it was pretty delicious and actually pretty nutritious too!

Gardner has had a cold lately, and I’m like 90% sure i’m going to get it too. I feel some of the symptoms, mostly at night. Luckily, i’ve got these guys to help with my vitamin c intake πŸ™‚

I love these! They are delicious.

Tonight, I think me and the boyy are taking a study break to go to Uno’s for dinner! I’m excited because I think Uno’s is delicious & they have plenty of healthy options. I think i’m going to try the roasted feta & vegetable wrap that Missy always raves about! any other suggestions?

If you haven’t already checked out Melissa’s blog, I highly suggest it! She does this hilarious thing on Thursday called ‘3 thing’s thursday’ where she basically rants about three things that are bugging her, and I decided to take part on this fine Thursday because those who know me, know I have quiet a few things I bitch about πŸ˜€

1. I hate when people don’t hold the door for you when they know you are coming! The other day, a girl failed to hold the door twice in a row, and then closed the door on the elevator before letting me in. I thought it was soooo rude! i mean seriously, I would never do that!

2. When people think they know soo much about something and go on and on about it but really know nothing. There is this girl on my floor who claims she is a vegetarian because “all meat is very bad for you.” I know a lot of people are vegetarians, and many of you bloggies who are do it very healthily (it is really inspiring/awesome!), but eating meat is not bad for you, especially if it is done in moderation and the meat is lean. Then after ranting about how much healthier the way she eats is, she went on to eat almost an entire bag of chips, carrots with ranch dip, and then 3 cookies. I’m like.. i’m pretty sure my meat diet is healthier?!

3. Twilight. I know, don’t shoot me. I just don’t get all the hype about it, I find it pretty odd! Hope I didn’t offend anyone πŸ™‚ I realize i’m in the minority here!

πŸ™‚ Love the eats! I’m a huge fan of trailmix. I love dried cranberries sooo much, especially in oats. I love to do plain oats with the dried crans and slivered almonds. delish!

I can’t stand twilight. So weird.

    Luhhhhhyou girl!
Good luck with the end of finals!

Hi thank you for commenting on my blog and I’m so happy to have found your blog. I will add you to my google reader for sure.

You’re a girl after my own heart with that wrap, simply delicious.

I’m with you on Twilight. Never read or watched and don’t really wanna. I just see it as another love story that isn’t allowed.

  11. ~Jessica~ December 17, 2009 at 5:07 pm #

I’m loving your warm colours! Goodness knows I need some warmth right now…it’s sub-zero in the UK!

*ooh* I agree with every one of your rants…that may seem surprising given the fact that I am vegan, but hypocritical vegetarians are one of my pet peeves…particularly the ones that wear leather. Anyway, I don’t think it’s her place to criticise you one way or the other…omnivorous diets, veggie diets, vegan diets, they can all be equally healthy or unhealthy across varying spectrums. A vegan diet may be healthiest from my perspective, but it is entirely possible to be a ‘junk-food vegan’ too, though for me ethical issues override those of health. It was highly insensitive of her to criticise your diet, even if she doesn’t know about your struggles. Dietary preferances are deeply personal things and though I’m more than happy to inform, I don’t think it’s right to pressure people aggressively to change their eating habits. You need to eat in which ever way works best for you and helps you to overcome Gerturude most effectively.

And I am another Twilight hater. I wish they’d hurry up and make the other films so it’s not plastered everywhere any more!

I am very envious of your yummy oats!

Take care, rest up and hopefully that nasty virus will fade away πŸ™‚

Girl, you are preachin to the choir! I loathe twilight. and Inconsiderate door-holders (or shall I saw, non-door-holders)

I hope you feel 100% better!
    Much love–

  13. Melinda December 17, 2009 at 5:25 pm #

I Love Tabathas Salon Takeover- she’s so brutally honest, I love that! And yeah, I always hold doors for people- I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t.

That is funny, the girl saying that about all meat being bad for you and then eating all of that junk haha

My pet peeve is ignorance, like when people won’t even listen to what you have to say like they automatically know more just because they’re older, richer or have a Doctorates Degree or whatever – I think we can all learn something from one another if we will just take the time to listen πŸ™‚

  14. Jenny December 17, 2009 at 5:33 pm #

girrrrrrrl no you di-nt diss my beloved Twilight!!! I kid I kid πŸ˜‰ didn’t spokes for different folks, right?

Oh my god.. don’t get me started on the door thing. Are you really in so much of a rush that you can’t wait an extra .000000001 millisecond for me to get in the door. Ugh. Obviously I have some pent up anger issues πŸ˜‰

That is so great that you are able to eat breakfast with your nutritionist! What a special relationship.. that is so important!

    xoxo

  15. Naomi (onefitfoodie) December 17, 2009 at 5:40 pm #

THANK YOU for brining up twilight!! I dont get the whole thing with it either! I didn’t even like the book that much (ahh sorry for those who want to hurt me!)

your breakfast looks fabulous esp with thsoe pretty bananas surrounding the bowl!

somethign that annoys me…when someone says “what” but they really hear what you said!

    have a great night girlie!

  16. lowandbhold December 17, 2009 at 5:56 pm #

I don’t dig Twilight at all! It annoys me beyond belief!

Your eats look great, hope your dinner at Uno’s is fab!

  17. determinedtoshine December 17, 2009 at 6:22 pm #

ahhh keep up the vit C girl – you dont want to get a cold over the holidays! and i love the look of all your eats… especially your brekkie.

    hannah xo

ps. people letting the door swing shut in front of you… ahhhhhhhhhhhh so annoying! what happened to good old fashioned manors?!

  18. Abby December 17, 2009 at 6:26 pm #

Im totally with you on # 3, too!! I work with middle schoolers who faint just looking at that cast (I think they are all a tad odd looking)! lol
Your eats all look healthy and yummy.. enjoy your din din at UNO πŸ˜‰

  19. rebecca lustig December 17, 2009 at 6:39 pm #

I’m not a fan of Twilight either!! Actually, I refuse to read it hehe.

And those Vit C drops are my saving grace right now!

    Have fun at UNOs

  20. rebecca lustig December 17, 2009 at 6:44 pm #

p.s. thanks for the comment, I need people like you to tell me to just suck it up and do it haha. Facebook me!

  21. MelissaNibbles December 17, 2009 at 6:51 pm #

Thanks for the shout out. I’m glad people take my bitching so well πŸ™‚

I hate Twilight. The movie was horrible! What is wrong with people?!

  22. justine December 17, 2009 at 7:33 pm #

I can’t stand Twilight!! It’s always nice to see other people that don’t like it either, haha

I don’t think that girl was right to talk on and on about how superior her diet is (I hate when anyone does that), but honestly, meat is not “good for you” no matter which way you look at it…it has protein and some iron and that’s it; the bad definitely outweighs the good. But I’m not one to tell people what to eat–if they want to eat meat, chips or cookies, that’s completely up to them.

Good luck on your last couple days of school and have a great winter break! xo

  23. maya December 17, 2009 at 7:44 pm #

I dont get twilight either πŸ˜› and that meat eater story omygoodness i was getting so mad at that girl for those comments, so untrue, my therapist said something to me the other day…bc she is a vegetarian, as am I and and she is quite over-weight to say the least, and she goes “believe me, i am vegetarian and i eat Doritos, it doesn’t make someone healthy” people are so misconstrued in their thinking….ugh..i used to eat meat, like u do, lean turkey and chicken fish etc…i was thinking about going back lol..its been a while! πŸ™‚ okay anywhooo πŸ™‚ Those wraps you eat look so good and so perfect! love wraps so much! πŸ˜‰

    have fun tonight cutie!!

AGREED on the twilight thing. whats up with THAT?! sheesh.

omg. i hold the dor open for people all the time. they like expect it? what am i, your little asian bitch? uhh no.

my friend went “veg” and every lunch consisted of cheetohs. go figure.

  25. Caitlyn December 17, 2009 at 8:18 pm #

Yay for twilight dislike. My 5th grade students are always trying to get me into it “You don’t think he’s hot Ms. Clark? what’s wrong with you??” and I’m like “ummm… He’s a vampire, and He’s a werewolf… I generally find I’m much more compatible with humans…”

Then they say “What does compatible mean?”… ugh…

  26. kbwood December 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm #

lol i am not a fan of twilight either!! and people are OBSESSED.
gah that rice bowl sounds awesome! i so wish my cafe had that

  27. Molly December 17, 2009 at 9:30 pm #

mmm your oats look SOOO good!

  28. burpexcuzme December 17, 2009 at 9:40 pm #

lol, I’m glad I’m not the only one disliking Twilight. Totally unimpressed with both the acting, the writing, and the characters themselves. Blegh.

Unos! Isn’t their deep-dish pizza their signature dish? I say just indulge in the tastiest sounding one! πŸ™‚ It’s not everyday you get to go!

  29. rubyconverseandcurls December 17, 2009 at 10:30 pm #

I’m 100% in agreement with all three of your annoyances. I must admit though, I just might go see the movie once the craziness dies down to see what all the fuss is about.
Even though I just made a blog of my own I’ve been reading yours for a while and love your determination to kick Gertrude πŸ˜‰ to the curb!

    • Rachael December 18, 2009 at 11:36 am #

My previous comment was from a wordpress account I made before realizing I’m def. not tech-savvy enough to work it… Whoops! So sorry about that! Here’s the link to my real bloggie: rubyconverseandcurls.blogspot.com

  40. diane doesn't diet December 18, 2009 at 10:21 am #

I totally agree with you about people not holding the door & stuff…one time I was walking to class on the sidewalk and some girl was walking towards me in the middle of the sidewalk and didn’t move to the side, so I had to walk halfway in the grass to move around her. So annoying! Some people are so oblivious/inconsiderate.

Ah I hope you get better before you go home for break!! & I hope Uno’s was fun–I’ve never even been there. Crazy right? Have a great day love!

  41. Katharina December 18, 2009 at 10:50 am #

Aww your sucha cutie pie! I agree with those 3 pet-peeves. Well actually I don’t know much about Twilight lol. I feel like I’m not a part of the world because I am so out of the loop haha. AND those halls vitamin C things are like candy to me!! Feel better, beautiful!! You’ll be home soon enough and you can get all the motherly-love in the world.

    Hey Shelley,

My former roommates name was Shelley. Okay, that’s not important, but what IS important is that I am a first time visitor! I’m excited to start following your blog and learn more about you and being there for anything you could ever need!
Also, I HATE it when people don’t hold the door open for me! What’s even worse than that is when I open the door for someone and they don’t say a thing! When that happens I say, very loudly “You’re welcome.”
I too hate Twilight, you’re not alone, I mean WTF up with vampires anyway?

    Colleen

  48. nattietan December 18, 2009 at 8:14 pm #

Amen to three of the things that bother you! I totally agree – even about Twilight. I’ve not been bothered to watch either movies and I haven’t seemed to have caught the Twilight bug! Hehe. I must be well immuned to it. x)

Hope you have a lovely dinner out at Uno’s hun! Take care gorgeous!!

    xx

  49. Bekah December 18, 2009 at 8:28 pm #

Mm I love you for your meat eating habits. Girl- I don’t judge vegetarians AT ALL, but I do judge those who claim to be healthy when they’re not! Same with vegetarians who eat no vegetables. Wtf? I eat more vegetables than you, and I also eat meat.

:):) Great post Shelley! (And no feelings hurt here. I do love my vampires, but I am by no means offended. To each her own. )

  50. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) December 18, 2009 at 9:09 pm #

Hey Shelley I see your sweet comments all over the b’sphere and figured it was about time to say hi! I also love those Halls Daily Defenses…the pink grapefruit and me are BFF’s
    3 things, oh lovve this!
Hate it when people make wrong assumptions. Way off and they just have no idea.
Don’t get 95% of the attraction to most tv shows as I have no attn span for them.
And hate it when people need a shower next to me in yoga class but it’s been like a week and they’re ripe πŸ™‚

  51. Ada December 18, 2009 at 9:49 pm #

Haha it really is super annoying when people don’t hold the door for you. Like, really? Is it that hard to keep the door open?

  52. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) December 18, 2009 at 10:22 pm #

You’re still not home? Goodness gracious! Safe travels dear!

  53. Shannon (The Daily Balance) December 18, 2009 at 11:27 pm #

    lovely post!!!

Did you try reading twilight? I’d definitely say the BOOKS make you like the movies – not vice versa…

  54. Nicole December 19, 2009 at 1:17 am #

Oooo, those eats look delicious!! That view is very pretty!

  55. jenngirl December 19, 2009 at 9:20 am #

Hope everything went smoothly, even though you’ll miss school, I’m sure it’s exciting to go home for the holidays!

I like your rants, getting stuff like that out in the open is a great idea. And even though I’m a huge Twilight fan, I really do understand people who just don’t get it. It’s an acquired taste πŸ˜‰

  56. candice December 19, 2009 at 9:25 am #

8:30 is early?! 😯 I’m happy just to wake up at 7. You’re a lucky girl then, I suppose! πŸ˜‰

Wait, wha? Glucosamine trail mix? Haha, why are they trying to promote that?

Ditto to Twilight and people who let doors slam in your face. Ugh. If I could catch up to them… !
